Frequently asked questions

What is Waypoint?

Waypoint helps you add a small pause before opening distracting apps, categories or websites you choose. When you try to open a blocked target, iOS shows a Screen Time shield. Waypoint then asks you to complete a short UK driving-theory “Pit Stop” challenge before granting temporary access — turning an impulse into a quick revision moment.

Waypoint also provides direct revision content: the Road Ready Quiz, Theory Modules, Mock Test, and a Highway Code reference section.

Is Waypoint official DVSA content?

No. Waypoint is an independent revision app. Its practice questions, answers, hints and illustrations were independently prepared for Waypoint to cover UK driving-theory topics. They are not the official DVSA theory-test question bank and Waypoint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by or produced by DVSA, GOV.UK, the Department for Transport, or the Crown.

The Highway Code reference section reproduces official GOV.UK material under the Open Government Licence v3.0, with attribution shown in the app.

Why is an app still blocked after I unlocked it?

Temporary unlocks last for the duration you set, and iOS reapplies the shield when that time or your daily allowance ends. Exact timing depends on iOS and your device state, so a shield may reappear a little before or after you expect.

Why didn't a shield appear?

Screen Time behaviour depends on iOS, your device settings, and whether Screen Time permission is enabled for Waypoint. Make sure protection is turned on in Waypoint and that Screen Time permission is granted in iOS Settings.

How do I turn protection off or change what's blocked?

Open Waypoint and use the Focus tab to toggle protection or change which apps, categories and websites are selected. You can also revoke Screen Time permission entirely in iOS Settings › Screen Time.

Does Waypoint collect my data?

No, not on a server we operate. Waypoint is local-first. Your revision progress, blocking settings and Screen Time data are stored on your device and are not uploaded to our servers in the current version.

Revision progress syncs to your own private iCloud database via Apple CloudKit — we cannot read that either. If you subscribe to Waypoint Pro, RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement data to unlock access; see our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I delete my data?

Because your data is stored locally (and, for revision progress, in your own private iCloud database), deleting the Waypoint app removes its data from your device. If you have emailed us for support, you can ask us to delete the messages you sent.

Is Waypoint a guarantee that I'll pass my theory test?

No. Waypoint is a revision aid, not a certification or examination service. It doesn't guarantee a test pass or replace reading the current official Highway Code.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Use “Manage Subscription” in Waypoint's Help & Settings screen, or go to iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. “Restore Purchases” in Help & Settings recovers an active subscription after a reinstall.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next renewal. See the Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.

Can I still get notifications from blocked apps?

While a target is shielded, iOS pauses that app's notifications too — the two are tied together in Apple's Screen Time framework and cannot be separated by Waypoint. If you need messages from a specific app, leave it unprotected, or use a schedule that pauses protection during the hours you need it.
